Concrete Removal in Denver, CO

Old, failing concrete broken out and hauled away, leaving a clean site ready for a new pour.

Every good new pour starts with fully removing the old one. We demolish and haul away failing driveways, patios, walkways and slabs, then prep the site so the replacement is built on solid ground.

Removal is included in most of our replacement quotes, or we can do it as a standalone job.

What we remove

  • Cracked and heaving driveways
  • Old patios and walkways
  • Steps, porches and small slabs
  • Failed sections for partial replacement

Clean site, ready to rebuild

We break out the old concrete, haul off the debris and grade the base so your new driveway or patio is built right from the ground up.

What sets the price in Denver

Access, more than square footage. This surprises people. A five hundred square foot driveway with a truck able to back right up to it is a straightforward job. The same five hundred feet behind a bungalow in Denver's older neighbourhoods, reached down a narrow side yard or off an alley, means smaller equipment, buggies or wheelbarrows, and that changes the labour substantially.

The bungalow neighbourhoods and the tighter lots in Englewood are where this comes up most. It is also the main reason we will not quote a removal over the phone. We need to see how we get to it.

Thickness and reinforcement of the old slab. Older pours across Arvada and Lakewood from the mid century were sometimes poured heavy and with minimal steel. Heavy slabs break out slower. Slabs with a lot of mesh in them break out slower still, because everything has to be cut free rather than lifted.

How much base rework is needed. Cannot be known until the slab is off. We give you a realistic number up front and tell you what would change it.

Disposal volume. Weight-based, unavoidable, and included in our quotes rather than added at the end.

The seasonal thing nobody mentions

Removal can happen most of the year. New pours are a different matter: exterior concrete in Denver runs roughly April through October, and outside that window the work needs blankets, mix adjustments and a longer schedule.

So if you call us in late October wanting a driveway removed and replaced, there is a real chance the honest sequence is removal now and pour in spring, which means bare ground over the winter. Some people are fine with that and some are not. Either way you should hear it before you commit, not after the slab is in a dumpster.

Our default recommendation in that situation is to schedule the whole job for spring unless there is a safety reason to take the old slab out sooner.
